Also known as Bead Fern. Sterile fronds are bright yellow-green and pinnatifid. Fertile fronds turn dark black or brown at maturity, with the modified pinnae shrinking up to bead-like formations on the stipe. Grows 2-3’.

About Onoclea: Onoclea is unusual in that there is only one species in this genus. The common name ‘Sensitive Fern’ refers to the way it dies back in late fall due to its sensitivity to frost. A nice addition to the garden it needs a moist spot.
